We start sustainably in 2023 - new reusable shipping boxes at CADdent
The environment is very important to us! That is why the topic of "sustainability" plays a central role for us and is considered a fundamental criterion for every corporate decision.
In addition to developing innovative manufacturing processes, testing new materials and optimizing processes, our in-house research and development department is also responsible for taking the idea of sustainability further.
Innovative manufacturing methods, new materials and optimized processes often go hand in hand with greater sustainability. Sometimes - as with our packaging - but also own projects are brought to life.

CADdent operational principle of "ecological sustainability"
Ecological sustainability is an operational principle for the use of resources, in which the natural ability to regenerate of all living beings and ecosystems is guaranteed. It is therefore important, among other things, to avoid single-use packaging and plastic waste or at least to reduce it to a minimum.
Second life for the MINDFAB blanks packaging
In order to conserve resources, we have been using our MINDFAB blanks packaging – which would be waste in our milling department – as packaging for 3D-printed plastic models since the summer of 2022. In this way, we give the disposable blanks packaging a second life and reduce packaging waste.
In addition to the sustainability aspect, the blanks packaging also provides an additional benefit - it is significantly more stable than the cardboard packaging previously used for 3D printed models. At the same time, our products are protected even more securely against external influences on the transport route.
In order to reduce further packaging waste, we are now sending single crowns, three-unit bridges or other small components from our production in a new, much smaller packaging.
Like our standard packaging box, the new one consists of 100% recycled plastic with no additional coloring. Moreover, the foam used in both packaging sizes contains 20% less petroleum than conventional foam. In addition, the lower packaging weight means that we can avoid up to 300 kilograms of plastic waste every year.
Criterion "reduction of packaging waste" already in purchasing
But it's not just in the packaging of the products we manufacture that we pay attention to reducing waste. We also keep an eye on the conservation of resources when purchasing the materials we use.
At the end of 2022 we changed the material in resin 3D printing. When converting the material to DETAX Freeprint Model 2.0 Caramel, we also focused on the packaging sizes. So far we could only obtain the material in 1 liter bottles. With this change, it is now possible to order 30 liter drums and thus significantly reduce packaging waste.
